Frank Russell Abernathy was a World War II veteran.
He retired from the United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C.
In 1960, Frank and Ava Dell Giles Abernathy purchased the land that became Giles Shire.
Their land became the ground of Viking Honey®.
Giles Shire is the Source of Viking Honey®.
III. The Return
In the stillness of summer,
Frank and Dell’s grandsons—Jimmy, Greg, and Mark—roamed the Shire,
learning the rhythm of land, seed, season, and storm.
Years later, Jimmy went out into the world—
through Mississippi State, the Sorbonne,
Madison Avenue, and Dilsberg, Germany,
on the Neckar River, in the shadow of a divided Germany.
Then he met a Viking Princess.
She led him back to Giles Shire.
Without the return, there would be no Viking Honey®.
IV. The Keeping of the Bee
The bee is kept by work.
At Giles Shire, the hives are opened, read, and kept.
